Savage Witches, our kaleidoscopic experiment in cinematic alchemy, is still going strong and sending shockwaves to the eyes and ears of audiences in festivals and film clubs around the world! On Wednesday we’ll be having our second screening in Porto, this time at Escola Artística Soares dos Reis as a part of Semana Cultural 2014. We’ll be following the screening with a discussion about the making of the film.
This coming weekend Savage Witches will have its Scottish Premiere at the Alchemy Film & Moving Image Festival. The film will be showing twice as a part of the Dreaming Room programme and it will also be used as a part of a lecture introducing artists film. We are very pleased to be included in this festival as it looks like it’s a fantastic programme with lots of film and video work on the themes of dreams, alchemy and nature (some of our favourite subjects)!! For more details see their website. Here is what Richard Ashrowan, the festival director, had to say about our film:
“It’s one of the most remarkable and celebratory films I have seen in a long time, a genre-defying explosion of creativity, personal expression and experimentation. There is a lot to say about this film, and it also raises many fascinating questions – it breaks all the boundaries between DIY and ‘art’ filmmaking, between narrative and experimental, between actor and filmmaker.”
On 28th May, Savage Witches will have its Italian Premiere in Bologna. This will be the first of several screenings hosted by Nomadica, a traveling festival of artists cinema. We will be there to present the film, and hopefully have some time to see the sights and maybe even squeeze in a quick trip to Florence!
Last October, Savage Witches screened at PollyGrind Underground Film Festival in Las Vegas where we won the prize for Best Fantasy Film. Weng’s Chop magazine has just published its latest issue which has a whopping great 42 page article covering PollyGrind, including a review of Savage Witches! We haven’t read it yet but ours is in the post! Click here to order your copy.
If you can’t make it to any of the screenings, never fear! You can have your very own Savage Witches experience without even leaving your home by ordering one of our very special limited edition Savage Witches DVD sets! The set includes: Savage Witches DVD, The Book of the Film, Pressbook and two frames from the film. Click here to see full details and order a copy.
